Solid tube ice machine is equipment designed to produce solid, tubular ice. Unlike standard hollow tube ice machines (which produce ice with an inner hole of 5–15 mm), the ice produced here has no central cavity; the ice is denser and melts more slowly, making it ideal for long-distance transport and extended cold-chain preservation.
The ice-making process for solid tube ice is essentially the same as that for standard tube ice: water flows down the inner wall of the evaporator and freezes through heat exchange with the refrigerant. Once the ice reaches the set thickness, a cutter severs it, and a hot-gas defrost cycle releases the ice. The key difference lies in the ice mold structure and defrost control, which allow the core to freeze completely, forming a solid cylinder.
